I AM TUTORING FULL TIME directly with students and families
HobbiesKayaking, raquetball, reading, hicking, movies
I like travellng a couple of times a year, usually to Spain to see my family and friends . I find that getting a distance from my everyday life in Athens gives me a better understanding of what I am doing and what I need to do
I am very motivated by new students and by how I can help them learn using different approaches. According to the student's personality, her or his preferences when learning , needs and objectives, I design each session. evaluation of students' needs is ongoing . I start from the student's strenghts and offer support with a free basic package of resources.
Students benefit from the learning strategies I provide for reading, speaking writing and listening in Spanish. My students have said that Ithey like how I individualize instruction and take care of the affective factors to give self confidence and motivation for learning more Spanish now and in the future (I hope!). Srategies are important for ..vocabulary development-recognizing and using real and false cognates, attending to prefixes and suffixes/beginning and ending of words and other word attack skills, say a word separating syllables/saying all the vowels. exaggerating mouth movements for Spanish sounds....) Body movement, rhythm, chants are tricks for remembering grammar points or for retaining learned content. Strategies for "before, during and after " using graphic organizers to prepare for the oral and written exams are very helpful aso.
